3 Nasty Secrets About Permanent Weight Loss

To do this, there are nasty secrets that they want to keep from the masses as long as possible. Why? Because if these secrets were revealed, they’d all go out of business.

They know that the odds against permanent weight loss are huge. And that most people try several different programs before finally giving up. If you notice, on the little informercials, when they show the before and after pictures, they always have, in fine print, “Results not typical.”

Of course, they’re not typical. And I’d be willing to bet that if they showed these same people 5 years from now, they wouldn’t be near as fit and trim.

Don’t get me wrong. Most of these programs can cause you to lose weight. In fact, any program that teaches you to consume fewer calories than you burn off will make you lose weight. The issue is keeping the weight off.

Why don’t they want you to know these secrets? Because they’re simple. You don’t need a program to teach you to lose weight, or to hold your hand. You only need some basic, fundamental knowledge.

Weight loss secret #1: Creating a Caloric Deficit is the only Healthy way to Lose Weight

I say “the only healthy way,” because you can lose weight by contracting a disease or chopping off a leg.

Most of the weight loss programs out there do teach you that you need to take in fewer calories than you burn off, but they don’t tell you what to do once you’ve reached your target weight. How do you maintain?

If you think of following a program as a temporary thing, chances are you’ll start eating the way you used to eat, and we all know where that will lead.

Weight loss secret #2: Starvation Diets Actually Increase your Body Fat

While starvation diets will cause you to lose a lot of weight in a short period of time, most of this weight is either water weight or muscle. Neither of these is good. Why?

Because water weight is temporary, and muscle determines your overall metabolism. If you’re burning muscle as fuel, your metabolism goes down while your body fat goes up. Yes, you weigh less, but feel worse.

What’s more, when you go off your starvation diet, you revert back to your old eating habits, and you end up heavier than you were when you started the diet.

Weight loss secret # 3: Cardio or Aerobic Exercise Burns Muscle

Contrary to what almost all diet programs teach, cardio is not the best way to burn fat. Yes, it does burn some, but it also destroys muscle which, as we said earlier, lowers your metabolism. So, how do you burn fat?

Interval training, or HIIT is the most effective way to burn fat while increasing muscle tissue. Interval training is where you exercise at an intense level, then rest for a period, then go intense again.

The weight loss industry tries to complicate all this, but the only thing you really need to keep in mind is that you need to burn more calories than you take in. You don’t need to pay gurus to tell you that.
