Proponents say that it rids the body of toxins, and even has cured certain diseases. Beyonce Knowles said she used this diet to lose weight quickly before doing the movie “Dream Girls.”
The downside of using the Master Cleanse to lose weight quick is that you’re depriving your body of needed nutrients, vitamins and minerals. Some have reported severe constipation and headaches after using this.
Another fast way to lose weight is with the Sleeping Beauty diet. This method became popular in the 1970′s, and is little more than sedating yourself and sleeping off the pounds. Yes, it works, but it still fits in the category of fasting to lose weight.
As such, again you’re depriving your body of stuff it needs to function properly.
Still, a third dangerous way to lose weight quickly is the ubiquitous Grapefruit diet, otherwise known as the Hollywood diet. On this diet, you eat half a grapefruit with every meal, but consume only 800 calories a day.
Proponents say that grapefruit possesses fat-burning enzymes, but scientists who have researched this say it’s not true.
The biggest danger I see here is that your body and mind will grow bored with this eating style, you’ll binge, and end up weighing more than you did before starting this diet.
